Foundation Focus Freedom by Terence Young, M.D. Book Review

Foundation Focus Freedom: The 3 Step Process for Transforming your Mindset, Overcoming your Fears and Harnessing Unimaginable Success by Terence Young, M.D.  This is quite a powerful title but very fitting for this book!

I was contacted by the author of this book to see if I would be interested in reviewing it. Clearly, it is not my preferred genre but I’m a firm believer in “The only thing holding you back is you” and this book seemed to follow that as well. Also, the fact that the author was a successful Ob-Gyn for over twenty years and now turned entrepreneur on personal growth had me intrigued.

Be, Do, Have

This book is written to work in all areas of your life. It is laid out well in how the author describes how the power is within you to transform your life . The author provides you with the DO  to transform your thinking into the actions to HAVE the visualization of your imaginable success. How to identify your limiting beliefs, the fears and influences that are subconsciously holding you back to discovering your core values, defining success and failure and so much more. This isn’t just a book that you just read in a few hours, it is a book that you have to do the work.  To aid you in the Be, Do, Have process, the author provides a website to access free worksheets and bonus materials that will assist you throughout the book.

In my eyes, Dr. Young clearly had already achieved the unimaginable success but continued in his own personal growth to help others achieve their success through this book. I highly recommend reading it and utilizing the worksheets.

The first two chapters of the book are available here. Foundation Focus Freedom: The 3 Step Process for Transforming your Mindset, Overcoming your Fears and Harnessing Unimaginable Success is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released on December 4, 2018.

492cc-author-bio81u6wANiYEL._US230_Terence Young is an Ob-Gyn physician who has been practicing medicine for over 22 years. I was very anxious to read this book as I felt that the book title described my life. I devoured the book in 24 hours.

There’s a lot of good information in the book but I think it might have read easier had it been divided into two sections. The first section being about the jerk magnet “types” and the second section aimed towards parents who want to prevent their children from becoming jerks. No one wants their kids to treat others in this way.

I think the author could have expanded more on each subject if the book were divided up this way and it would have flowed a bit better. I found myself wondering did I miss a page or two?

I know it is impossible to cover every type of “jerk” behavior and the author did a great job of addressing the jerks that are most likely to be physically abusive, which is extremely important especially to younger women and men, but I felt that the jerks I date weren’t addressed.

The book also seemed to be geared towards younger women and left out women with established careers, children, etc. especially since the author discusses how our childhood influences our choices in men.

Parents model relationships for their children and it would have been interesting for this to have been addressed. Maybe that will be in book two??????

What is Your Life Purpose?

Are you looking to find the answer to the age-old question “What the hell should I do with my life”? Do you want to find work that simply makes you happy? Are you sick of dreading each day and only living for the weekends? If your current job situation does not bring you happiness but you do not know how to fix it, this book will help answer all of your questions. It will not, however, answer these questions in a typical fashion. It is not going to give you a personality test or an aptitude assessment. You’re not going to find a list of career or business options that you could try. This book dives much deeper than other typical career or business books you will find. The theory behind this book is that one must unlearn everything he or she has been taught before being able to authentically explore the best business or career choice.

How this book is different than typical career guides or business books: Clothing Analogy

Imagine you are asked to find one outfit to wear the rest of your life. Would you rather choose from a pre-filled closet or have your apparel custom-made? With other books, you are essentially looking in a closet full of different clothes and picking out the best option; it may not be your favorite color or fit just right but it will do. In this book, you will design your perfect ensemble

The book is structured into three parts:

The first section describes and gives examples of psychological concepts to explain how you have been shaped and exactly why you are in your current situation.

The second part is all about relearning how to live and think authentically. This is where you begin to explore and research, with fresh eyes, the best business or career choice for you.

The third part is focused solely on techniques that you can apply to assist in this process. Complex theories are broken down into simple steps, with examples to help explain how to apply these concepts in your own life.

Whether you want to find the perfect job, or start your perfect business, it will guide you through each step necessary to reach a life of happiness and fulfillment.

Sneak Peek at Everything that will be Covered:

Each of the following topics will be broken down into simple, easy-to-understand explanations and steps.

  • Psychological Learning Principals
  • Societal Norms and How They Affect You
  • Understanding Your Underlying Beliefs
  • Subconscious Structuring and Restructuring
  • Psychological Theories (Cognitive Bias, Distortions, Effects of the Ego)

My Review of Walking in Grace with Grief by Della Temple

My review today is going to be a little different as it is in two parts. First, my review of the book and my second post will be about my personal experiences while reading the book.

This is a self-help book about death and grief written by the author who experienced the loss of her son. The book talks about her journey and the things that helped her during this painful time, including meditations that helped her during the grieving process. These are included in the book as well. It is honestly and gracefully written to help others that have lost a loved one. At the end of the book, the author includes a way to contact her for additional information or learning, I thought this was very thoughtful. This book is 126 pages, is a fast read, and is laid out so you can easily go back to a particular part. There are a few things in the book that the author believes in that I personally do not, but with that being said, there are a lot more beneficial things in the book that do could help you in dealing with the loss of a loved one. I read this on my kindle, but this is one book I will get in paperback.

You can get your copy at Amazon.

Thank you to Mrs. Temple for gifting this book to me in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own and are a reflection of my personal experiences while reading the book.

About the Author:

Della Temple writes about melding the worlds of the physical and the metaphysical. She combines her love of anything analytical with her wide-ranging interest in quantum physics and the world of energetic healing. She is a certified Reiki Master and has studied clairvoyance and psychic healing at Boulder Psychic Institute. She believes that being psychic is a very natural state of being. It is a skill, just like playing the piano or singing on key. It takes a teacher, a willingness on the part of the student to be receptive to new ideas, and some time spent in practice.

Della invites the reader to experience opening to their intuition on the journey toward discovering their life’s purpose.

My Review of It’s A Match! A Guide To Finding Lasting Love by Natalie Moore, MsEd, MFT, ChT,

unnamedKeeping with my theme from the last book I reviewed, this is another different read and book review for me. However, I will admit that after my divorce a few years ago, I did read a lot of these types of books.

What I liked about this book is that is it written by someone with credentials. Ms. Moore has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is also a successful relationship coach. In her book, Ms. Moore talks about the “4 Levels of Love”, Different Relationship Levels, and how to find a, Level III or Level IV, lasting satisfying relationship. It also teaches how to deal with your emotional baggage first before pursuing another relationship. The author also provides a lot of helpful information for online dating and how to set up your profile, things to say/do, and things to look for that are red flags. An added bonus with Ms. Moore’s book is that she just does not stop at once you have met a potential partner, but goes further with reiterating what you are taught in the beginning of the book once you have meet someone.

I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a new relationship, or even just starting a new relationship, as well.

You can get a copy from Amazon It’s a Match! The Guide to Finding Lasting Love. Subscribers to Amazon Unlimited can read it for free.

I give it 3 out of 4 cupids.

Thank you to Word Slinger Publicity for provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
