Genre: NA Romantic Comedy/Time Travel
Expected Release Date: January 26th, 2016

Isla Barnes hates love, marriage, and commitment.  As a Millennial in her twenties, she’s focused on starting her medical communications carrier, moving out of her parents’ place and into a ridiculously expensive studio apartment in a semi-safe neighborhood.  After a bachelorette party with her closest friends, she wakes up in nothing but her party dress to an unfamiliar bedroom next to a man claiming to be a pirate from the Eighteenth Century.  While she attempts to figure out where she is and why she’s here with him, her new companion, Captain Matt Scott of the Crimson Wave, is on a mission to rescue his sister from the hangman’s noose.  Isla decides to tag along because he offers her free passage and she finds she feels safe with him – which is odd, considering the only man she trusts is her father.  This new adventure is completely unexpected, mind-blowing, and seemingly impossible, but Isla will learn that survival is easier with friends, magic is real, and love is beautiful.
Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I’m a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says ‘like’ more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I’m a 26 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I’m a writer. Like, for real.I recently signed with Anchor Group Publishing, which will see two of my series being published this year. I’ve self-published over 15 books, with more on the way, so I’m familiar with both a hybrid-traditional publishing method as well as self-publishing.

I don’t speak in third person (normally) nor do I wear glasses (except when I’m feeling particularly mischievous). I’m lucky to have found my soul mate at the ripe old age of 22, even though he frustrates me on purpose to get a reaction out of me. We live near Disneyland, have two rambunctious female puppies, and have a beautiful baby girl. He has two amazing boys, and has gotten me hooked on Smallville, watching soccer (okay, okay FOOTBALL – FC Barcelona, baby!), and Cancun Juice.

The Lightening Round - 1253 x 2000 Update-2

Literary / Women’s Fiction
Date Published: November 1, 2015

Did you ever wonder what it’s like to dare to fall in love with someone who literally isn’t on your level?

The Lightening Round is a fast-paced novel brimming with colorful characters, sinister plots of intrigue and revenge, and over-the-top antics.

Hannah More, a single mom with weight issues, assumes that her longtime boyfriend, Luke Havitt, is about to propose marriage to her. Instead, he proposes that in order for Hannah to take their relationship to the next level, that she needs to join a gym and to lose weight. Hannah soon finds herself entering the Ultimate Level, a highly controversial yet incredibly sought after San Francisco “fitness experience” known for not only having the latest in technology and fashion, but also segregating all of its members based solely on their weight and fitness levels.

This snappy novel ultimately questions whether true love can survive two individuals from different levels. Even if those levels are only found at a gym.

Excerpt

“I dont know what you’re talking about. Tonight out with Luke, I ate like a bird.” Hannah and Levreece both dusted off her filthy pink satin gown as they caught their breath on a bench fifty feet from where they had first started their journey.

Aiya.” Levreece blurted out a Mandarin expression for Oh, My God. He looked straight into Hannahs bloodshot eyes. “Hannah, Lady Love. Your To Go bag survived the crash—kinda like one of those black boxes they have on airplanes. And, you know, I took the liberty of poking around inside it. Well, let me tell you, girlfriend. From what I saw in that there bag, the only bird you ate like tonight was one of those Raptors hanging around inside the Jurassic Park. The ones that can polish off a whole cow in a single serving and then they’re on to the really big eats.”

“I’m going to lose him.” Hannah put her face in her hands.

“And thats a bad thing? Losing Luke Havitt is like finding out that a swarm of locusts that had been camping out in your apartment has finally gotten pissed off ‘cause you didnt feedem well enough and decided to move in with your nasty nosy neighbor across the hall. This guys a complete user. He’d steal the gold fillings out of his own mothers teeth and sell ‘em back to her. And as a man who likes other men, I cant for the life of me see what turns you on about this whiter-than-white airbrushed airhead with literally no ass. I swear when I look at him from behind I cant tell where his back ends and his legs begin. Couldnt you at least land a dude with some booty?” He jokingly stood up and wiggled his large behind.

The edges of Hannahs mouth initially turned up from her friends humorous motions, but she quickly allowed her smile to fall to the ground as reality set in. You’re one of my best friends in the whole world, Levreece. Please help me.”

#BookReview of Six Lies by Ben Adams

51W57vQ43zL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_

Synopsis as provided by Amazon:

How would you feel if, one day, you discovered everything you thought you knew about your family was a fabrication? Your mother wasn’t your mother, your father was a liar and your whole upbringing was a sham.

Confronted with this exact situation, Dave Fazackerley doesn’t feel great. It doesn’t help that he has just buried the woman he thought of as his mother. Or that his wife, his one true soulmate, recently jumped into bed with a librarian. Even his band, his only escape from reality, is going through a rough patch.

How will Dave respond? Will he discover the truth about his family? Will his band ever play a gig again? More importantly, can Dave entice his wife back from the arms of the book-dork or will he take a chance on a new love?

MY REVIEW

Poor David, the guy just can’t win for losing. His wife, Lou, has left him for a librarian, *chuckle, chuckle,* and then his mother dies, and leaves him a note that she wasn’t his biological mother, and he needs to get answers from his father.

So, what does Dave do? Dave gets drunk and shags his best mates, ex wife, and a few others along the way. Great idea, Dave!

download (1)

All the while, he’s still trying to get his wife back and figure out who is bio mom is.

Dave has a tendency to behave like a petulant child throughout this book, and has a tendency to get in his own way most of the time. Throughout reading this book, I didn’t know if I wanted to slap Dave across the face or just beat him to a bloody pulp!

download (2)

But, when more lies are revealed after Dave meets his bio mom. You kinda gotta feel for the guy, and instead beat Dave’s dad!

In the end, Dave does redeem himself but dang it took him long enough. Maybe, he would have stayed more on track had he been thinking with the correct body part…

Overall, this was a funny read, written by a man’s point of view of life, and how they get in their own way a majority of the time!!

It reminded a lot about the joke, “What happens when you play a country song backwards? You get your wife back, your dog back, your truck back..”

Overall, I give this book three out of four bottles of Jack Daniels. See Rating System HERE!

This book is available through Amazon here. And is free to read for Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

Thank you to Rosie Amber’s Review Team and the author, Ben Adams, for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My review of her previous book, Three Night of Rain:

I read this book in one setting. It was absolutely a wonderful love story. I was so happy that Jacob Morgan had found true love. But what I hated was the ending that I never saw coming. It absolutely broke my heart and I couldn’t stop crying. Although it didn’t make for an interesting ending, we all want love stories to have a happily ever after. But overall, I LOVED THIS BOOK and IT IS A MUST READ!!! Just be prepared to cry!!!!
