book blurb

A sexy romance about two women, one inconvenient wedding, and a shared love of Cake!

Kelly and Elana’s relationship is a recipe for disaster. First, they meet at a wedding, and that never works. Second, Kelly’s older brother is marrying Elana’s ex-lover. And third, Elana is still painfully, undeniably in love with said ex.

When it comes to other people’s lives, Elana Verdad is an expert. As a licensed psychologist and life coach, she helps people overcome obstacles. Her own life, on the other hand, is a disaster. Her lover left her for a man, so she drove over his mailbox accidentally on purpose. Now, not only did the judge take away her driver’s license, he also assigned her to community service at the local women’s prison. In what may be her worst idea ever, Elana decides to crash their wedding.

Kelly Miller may not understand her brother’s rush to marry his girlfriend, but when he asks her to bake his wedding cake, it’s not as if she can refuse. She’s in the catering business after all. At the wedding, she meets a beautiful, complicated, and seriously damaged woman. Although Kelly knows it’s crazy, she’s drawn to her nonetheless.

Despite the reasons they shouldn’t be together, there’s still an undeniable something between them. All they need is a chance to enjoy their slice of the cake.

  1. ARCs are deliverable straight to your Kindle only. That requires a couple of things, like you have to list me as an approved sender and give me your kindle email, but I have directions for all that. Fancy. If you don’t have a Kindle, do not despair. Go ahead and sign up and we’ll see if I can make other arrangements.
  2. After reading it, you gotta head over to Amazon and Goodreads and leave a review. If you want to share the review love with B&N and the Ylva website, and your own personal blog, feel free. I won’t be stopping you.
  3. You must promise to leave an honest review. This whole ARC thing is very, very common practice, but I have some significant ethical hangups around ARCs. It only works for me if you cross your heart and hope to die that you won’t say you love it if you hate it. And vice-versa.
  4. I have a limited number of ARCs. As much as I’d love to give them out to everyone (because what’s cooler than free books!), I can’t. Astrid Ohletz, the publisher over at Ylva, might be forced to sacrifice me to an angry pagan goddess if I gave them away to everyone. #sadface

My review of New Beginnings by KC Richardson

First let me say, and I hate to have to even say this in this day and age, but if you are uncomfortable with Lesbian Romance for whatever reason, this is probably not a review for you. If you do not have a problem with a romance with a same sex couple, please read on.

This is the first time I have read a lesbian story, but I enjoyed reading it. The author did an amazing job as the book is very well written, and I easily related to the characters. Jordan, a physical therapist, and Kristen, a Human Resource Manger, Jordan is openly gay and Kristen is in a very unhappy marriage to her husband, John. Kristen and Jordan first formally through a mutual acquaintance.

I could sympathize with Kristen as she was married and didn’t think that she was a lesbian.Jordan having previously been deeply hurt by a past lover was against any relationship that went past one night. Any one that has been hurt in the past can relate to that. After Jordan and Kristen meet, they form a friendship and their relationship naturally progressed.  Jordan’s romantic side was so sweet, and the way they truly loved each other and took care of each other really showed the depth of their love.
I was glad the author including sex scenes as it added to the couples authenticity and showed the passion they have for one another. It is tastefully and authentically written about sex between two women. Had the author left out sex scenes, it would have been a disservice to her readers. For those who think they would be uncomfortable reading about two women, remember 50 Shades of Gray, you can handle it.
I love romance novels, and as I am not gay which really shouldn’t matter, I read the book without any hesitation as every person should be able to love whomever they so chose regardless of sex.

I give it 4 out of 4 “Anam Cara”

My mother is a lesbian and she came out when I was about 17. I have always supported her and loved her no matter what. To me, it doesn’t matter who you love as long as they make you happy. So, mom, I dedicate this review to you. Happy birthday and I love you, your baby girl!!!
