#BookReview of Six Lies by Ben Adams

Synopsis as provided by Amazon:

How would you feel if, one day, you discovered everything you thought you knew about your family was a fabrication? Your mother wasn’t your mother, your father was a liar and your whole upbringing was a sham.

Confronted with this exact situation, Dave Fazackerley doesn’t feel great. It doesn’t help that he has just buried the woman he thought of as his mother. Or that his wife, his one true soulmate, recently jumped into bed with a librarian. Even his band, his only escape from reality, is going through a rough patch.

How will Dave respond? Will he discover the truth about his family? Will his band ever play a gig again? More importantly, can Dave entice his wife back from the arms of the book-dork or will he take a chance on a new love?

Poor David, the guy just can’t win for losing. His wife, Lou, has left him for a librarian, *chuckle, chuckle,* and then his mother dies, and leaves him a note that she wasn’t his biological mother, and he needs to get answers from his father.

So, what does Dave do? Dave gets drunk and shags his best mates, ex wife, and a few others along the way. Great idea, Dave!

All the while, he’s still trying to get his wife back and figure out who is bio mom is.

Dave has a tendency to behave like a petulant child throughout this book, and has a tendency to get in his own way most of the time. Throughout reading this book, I didn’t know if I wanted to slap Dave across the face or just beat him to a bloody pulp!

But, when more lies are revealed after Dave meets his bio mom. You kinda gotta feel for the guy, and instead beat Dave’s dad!

In the end, Dave does redeem himself but dang it took him long enough. Maybe, he would have stayed more on track had he been thinking with the correct body part…

Overall, this was a funny read, written by a man’s point of view of life, and how they get in their own way a majority of the time!!

It reminded a lot about the joke, “What happens when you play a country song backwards? You get your wife back, your dog back, your truck back..”

Overall, I give this book three out of four bottles of Jack Daniels. See Rating System HERE!

My review of Shizzle, Inc by Ana Spoke

This book is a view into the burlesque life of Isa Maxwell, which involves her parents, her sister and her husband, and her best friend. Isa’s boyfriend, Brad, has just broken up with her because of his NFL dreams of becoming such a big football star that he can’t be held back by the likes of mediocre Isa. Brad’s got game!

download (1)Isa sees her opportunity for fame and fortune through a commercial for Shizzle, Inc. A giant conglomerate cooperation that is run by Mr. Hue, who is quite the character!

Isa, of course, get’s the job with Shizzle, Inc. and she just keeps getting promoted because of her awesomeness that she displays to Mr. Hue. Isa gets invited to attend a Gala with Mr. Hue and all hell breaks lose. The story with Isa’s job kind of unravels from there.

In the end, Isa gets all that she has worked for and she is on to her next goal!

images (27) In reading this book, I have never laughed so hard in my life. Isa is quite a character and can be a little delusional at times, but that just makes this book all the more comedic.

I read this book in one night because I could not put it down wondering why could possibly happen next.

I give it four out of four middle fingers!
