#BookReview of Say You’re Mine by Diane Alberts

Book Synopsis from Amazon:

A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

She’s a challenge he can’t afford to lose…

Navy SEAL Steven Thomas has only ever been able to count on three things: waking up in the morning, going to sleep sometime during the night, and Lauren Brixton. She’s been his best friend since grade school, and what they have is the only relationship he’s managed not to ruin.

Until one drunken night puts that all in jeopardy.

Lauren’s watched Steven flit from one-night stand to one-night stand, seemingly not interested in something more. So when the long-ignored attraction between the two of them blows up in their faces, she does the only thing she can-she pretends she doesn’t want him. But all’s fair in love and war, and Steven’s not about to lose the only person in his life who matters…

Steven Thomas is attempting to readjust to civilian life after an injury has forced him out of the military as a Navy SEAL (translation: SEXY HOT!) Steven has been dealing with this with a lot of alcohol and women.

The one constant person that has been there for him is his platonic friend for over twenty years, Lauren Brixton. Lauren owns and operates a bakery and has just broken up with her lying, cheating boyfriend, Brian.

Lauren, Steven, Steven’s sister, Lydia, and Lydia’s boyfriend, Holt, who also was in the Navy SEALS with Steven and are now coworkers, are all together for Steven and Holt’s business party. At this party, Lauren and Steven start flirting with each other.

Holt, Lydia and Lauren are very concerned about Steven and they decide to take steps to help Steven. Lauren takes the lead and has Steven come stay with her after a little incident with her ex that she exaggerates a little. Now, there is one thing to remember here: Steven absolutely hates lies and liars.

While Steven is staying with Lauren, things turn sexual and HOT! Steven stops drinking and Lauren opens herself up to the possibility that not all men are bad. But Lauren is haunted by the “little white lie” she told Steven.

After a hot tryst in the ally next to Lauren’s bakery, Lauren goes to lock up the bakery and runs into Holt. Holt starts on about thanking her for what she did to trick Steven into staying with her and how much he has changed, not knowing Steven is in ear shot.

Steven is devastated and believes that Lauren has been lying about everything this whole time and ends things with Lauren. Lauren is devastated because Steven promised to never leave her.

Does Steven realize that Lauren’s feeling where real? Can he forgive Lauren? Can Lauren forgive Steven? Will a twenty year friendship be lost? You’ll have to read the book.

This book was an amazing read. The characters are real, their feelings come through in the author’s writing, and has a truly special story line about insecurities, friendships, relationships, and the things we take for granted.

Favorite quote from the book: “And even more, it terrifies me that you mean so much to me. That you leaving me would kill me. It’s a lot of power to give someone, when you hand them your heart. They could crush it. Break it. Tear it in two.”

I give this book four out of four “Doctor Who”. See rating system here.

This book is available on Amazon starting tomorrow, December 7, 2015. Get your copy at AMAZON!
