Sometimes the biggest risk is playing it safe.
Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.
Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.
Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing spin the bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.
I absolutely loved this book!! I have never fallen in love with a female character before but I did with Gen Richards. She is such an inspirational character with such a zest for life and a good hearted person. She also happens to have been born blind. Gen Richards and Chance Anderson have been best friends since Gen was five-years-old. Chance was also best friends with Gen’s brother, Walter. An incident occurred when Gen was a teenager which ultimately forced Chance out of her life (no thanks to her jerk brother, Walter), and she was devastated.
Years later, Gen decides she is done living a boring life after a co-worker unexpectedly dies. Gen starts on the bucket list she made when she was fifteen and puts her bucket list into play. First on the list is to kiss a stranger. While Gen is at the bar with her friend, her friend tells her where a hot guy is seated and Gen makes a go for it.
And who is the handsome stranger in the bar??? You guessed it, Chance Anderson. Mr. Anderson has been watching Gen from afar and Gen just happened to kiss Chance and then immediately slaps him across the face!
In order to keep Chase in Walter’s good graces, Gen decides that Chase needs to help her fulfill her bucket list and Chase agrees. This leads Gen and Chase to discovering what happened in their past that tore them apart and how they can find their way back to each other.
Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with Gen about her choice to reconnect with Chase, including her brother, Walter. Does Gen find the will to stand up to her controlling brother? Does Chase stand up for Gen? Or is their past doomed to repeat itself? You will have to read the book.
I give this book four out of four “MINTS”. See rating system HERE.
