#Bookreview of Stop In The Name Of Love by Nina Bruhns

Amazon Synopsis:

Undercover…or under the covers…?
Undercover… Undercover vice cop Russell Bridger hates his new assignment doing surveillance on the home of a suspected traitorous spy. That is, until he receives orders to cozy up to the man’s sweet, beautiful neighbor…and find a way to move in with her for the duration. But things don’t go as smoothly—or seductively—as he’d hoped when she tells him she hates cops with a passion and wants nothing to do with him, his lies, or his damn assignment.
Or under the covers…? Cops in Mary Alice Flannery’s family keep dying, and she doesn’t think she can take another shot to her heart. So when the infinitely sexy road crew guy she’s crushing on big time turns out to embody her worst nightmare, she must decide what kind of future she wants…safe and lonely, or wild and dangerous but filled with love?

Mary Alice Flannery has had her heart broken over and over by the death of her father, fiancé, and uncle: all police officers. She has kept herself closed off to love by hiding behind her job as a nursery school teacher, her roses, and her “master list” of things to accomplish.

Enter, Russell Bridger aka “Bridge”, handsome, strong and sexy, who appears to be a construction worker that is working on Mary Alice’s street. Once Mary Alice gets a look at sex holding a construction stop sign, all bets are off.

Screen Shot 2015-11-09 at 8.33.56 AMMary Alice and Bridge hit it off until she finds out that he really is a police officer and things between Mary Alice and Bridge go south. Ultimately, Mary Alice, out of honor to her deceased father, agrees to help the police and allows Bridge to move into her house temporarily to spy on her neighbor, who they believe is engaging in illegal activities.

Mary Alice and Bridge both try to fight their inner demons and their feelings for each other. Mary Alice can’t live knowing Bridge could be killed at anytime, and Bridge can’t break his promise to his mother.

The following quote from the book sums up the book the best:

“You’re a cop, Bridge. You’re all wrong for me,” she said quietly. Letting out a long breath, he took her in his arms and sank into the warm solace of her heavenly body. “I know,” he whispered, pain searing through his heart. “So, why do you feel so damned right for me?”

Can Mary Alice come to terms with her past and learn there are no guarantees in life? Can Bridge let go of his past and comes to terms with the death of his mother? Or, they better off apart? You’ll have to read the book which is available today at AMAZON for $2.99.

I give this book 3.5 out of 4. See Rating System.
